The $25,000 Question

MoneyOn one of my many trips into the world of Google Reader I was presented with the lifechurch.tv blog. I found this interesting as they’ve already gone done some of the routes I’d like to look at with ACC. However, an article that really caught my eye was about Church planting. Specifically, if you had $25,000 (approximately £12,500 and I’m not American, honest!) to start a new Church or, I’m guessing, a fresh expression of an existing Church.

So, here’s how I’d spend my “imaginary” $25,000.

Firstly, an interactive web portal that can connects Church “membership”.

Secondly, a good youth worker who could come on board part time.

Thirdly, a small, loud but transportable PA system. Preferably with one wireless microphone.

Fourthly, sort out a partnership with a small to medium sized Coffee shop. Which I’d already expressed I’d do in this post.

I don’t really have a clue what it’d look like. Or, how it would work. And it opens up certain questions. Should Church be marketed? Or planned? Should Church be completely spontaneous? Should we, as Christians, use worldly values and techniques to spread our message?

I’d like to know your opinions. Where would you spend the money? What are your thoughts on my questions?

Oh, and if you happen to have $25,000 - don’t give it to me. Though I do know where it could be used…
